SONOGRAMS

Roosevelt Cardiovascular Diagnostic

A sonogram (also called an ultrasonogram) is the visual image produced during an ultrasound exam.

Intravascular ultrasound is a diagnostic test. This is a test that uses sound waves to look inside blood vessels. It is useful for evaluating the coronary arteries that supply the heart.

A tiny ultrasound transducer is attached to the top of a thin tube. This tube is called a catheter. The catheter is inserted into an artery in the groin area and threaded up to the heart. It is different from conventional duplex ultrasound. This is done from outside the body, by placing the transducer on the skin.

A computer measures how sound waves are reflected off blood vessels and converts the sound waves into images. IVUS gives the healthcare provider an inside-out view of the coronary arteries.

IVUS is almost always done during a procedure. Reasons it may be done include:

Angiography provides an overview of the coronary arteries, but cannot show their walls. IVUS images show the walls of the arteries and can reveal the presence of cholesterol and fatty deposits (plaques). The buildup of these deposits can increase the risk of a heart attack.

Intravascular Ultrasound has helped providers understand how stents (vascular grafts) become clogged. This is called stent restenosis.

BENEFITS

The benefits to our sonogram service include:

Roosevelt Cardiovascular Diagnostic

Accurate diagnosis

A sonogram, also known as an ultrasound, is a non-invasive diagnostic test that uses sound waves to produce images of the heart and blood vessels. It provides detailed information on the structure and function of the heart and can detect abnormalities or blockages that may be missed by other diagnostic tests.

Roosevelt Cardiovascular Diagnostic

Early detection

Our sonogram services can detect cardiovascular disease at an early stage, allowing for timely intervention and treatment. This can improve patient outcomes and reduce the risk of complications.

Roosevelt Cardiovascular Diagnostic

Non-invasive

A sonogram is a non-invasive diagnostic test that does not involve radiation or exposure to contrast agents. It is a safe and painless procedure that can be performed quickly and easily.

Roosevelt Cardiovascular Diagnostic

Versatility

Our sonogram services can be used to diagnose a wide range of cardiovascular conditions, including heart valve disorders, arrhythmias, congenital heart defects, and atherosclerosis.

Roosevelt Cardiovascular Diagnostic

Real-time imaging

We provide real-time imaging of the heart and blood vessels, allowing our healthcare providers to visualize the heart's function and blood flow in real-time. This can provide valuable information for treatment planning and monitoring.

Roosevelt Cardiovascular Diagnostic

Patient comfort

Our Sonogram services are a comfortable and stress-free experience for patients, making it an ideal diagnostic test for patients with anxiety or other medical conditions that may make other diagnostic tests more difficult or uncomfortable.
